The Spiffy Ehwards are THE most highly sought after and prestigious Ehward to be found on the Interwebs. You know this to be true because you just read that it is true.
It comes with no cash award or any other benefits beyond bragging rights, but that is more valuable than any amount of money or silly statue. Winners are encouraged to put it on their resumes as it will almost certainly make you a more appealing candidate to prospective employers.
Nah, just kidding. It’s my unique (& admittedly dorky) way of giving a shout out to people I find amazing. I used to do extensive #FF lists on Twitter but they became so clogged with amazing people that I was spamming the Cultists timelines with 40+ #FF lists. It became unsustainable for me and annoying for many of you. I’d rather draw attention to one specific person at a time. I think it is more personal and meaningful and really forces me to think about who the truly Top Notch Cultists are.
Many theists, especially Christians, are fond of touting the value of having faith. Many go so far as to say, “Facts don’t count.” like on this church sign:
The Priests, Pastors, and clergy in general of the Christian faith have always pushed faith as being paramount. I think they do this because they know they don’t have any facts that truly support their claims. I mean, if they did have facts, they’d undoubtedly use them.
This Twitter conversation embodies why I try to remain polite in my online interactions. If this inspires one person to be nicer online, then I will consider this worth my time.
Last week I had an interesting conversation with @NukeTheWha1es (Hereafter to be known as NTW) on Twitter. I had a previous discussion with NTW that same day, but it wasn’t as memorable as this one.
I’ll admit this one started because I was stalking his Timeline looking to see if he was online because if I recall correctly, it seemed he was avoiding answering a question of mine and I wanted to see if he really was, or if he was just offline. I try to do this because nothing irritates me more than having my mentions plugged up with impatient tweets like “Well?”, “No answer?”, “Run away?” When in reality, reality just called and I was unable to be online at that time. Ergo, I try not be annoyingly impatient to others.
Why is it that anytime I see someone say, “atheism destroyed”, they always end up presenting really weak arguments? Watch the below video and let me know in the comments what you think about Pastor Greg’s ideas on atheism.
This video, embedded above, was a really cool way to explain evolution. This post isn’t so much about evolution itself as it is, per the title, about teaching methods. I personally find animations such as this one to be a highly effective method of conveying information, especially ones that have the potential for controversy.
Christian Home School organization Wisdom Home School was recently shut down by the Alberta Department of Education for apparent financial irregularities. This is, to me, good news. As many of you know, we homeschool our two oldest kids (3rd goes to play school, might go to public school, 4th is TBD), but we strive for a secular education. We aim to ensure they will be able to compete with other kind devices their age.
